ucuz bir otel

(cheap hotel)
By the looks of it we have got our sleeping issues sorted out in the little town of Selcuk, where Jimmy’s Place (formerly known as Artemis Guesthouse-Jimmy’s Place, but that’s a long story) will, I think, win out over Homeros Pension. The former is like ‘infiltrating the nerve-centre of backpacker central” says the LP, while the latter seems to be a very homely pension. I don’t know why, but we are heading toward Jimmy’s- he also seems to have a great travel library that is also mentioned in the LP. The Rough Guide recommends it as well. In Selcuk most of them offer free rides to Ephesus (which is what everyone comes there to see- one of the most famous sites for Roman ruins), and the prices are more or less comparable- it’s the ‘services’ they can compete on.

We’ve got three places in Fethiye within our budget, but only one of them has anything close to pictures of the place on the net- of course it is the one with the highest rate amongst the three. The other two are ‘redoing their website’ or some such thing and so we don’t know what they look like at all.

Istanbul seems a little more chaotic. We have a couple of responses that are within our budget (that being a maximum of 30Euros/night), but have not been able to get through to two places that LP says are cheaper. It looks like we will end up landing in Istanbul and walking around Sultanahmet checking places out. Except, it is going to be sunset time by the time we reach town I think. But heck, that’s ok I suppose.

We also figured out our budget. Wait, let me rephrase- we drew up (yet another) budget. It includes everything we can think of right now in broad heads, and some amount for ‘miscellaneous’- but its so darned tight! The insatiable foodies that we are, it is going to be a tough one to control our appetites, but we might just get to see the dervishes whirl…
