Ucuz bir otel nerede?
(or where is cheap hotel?)
Sunday we sat for hours on the computer (it was squashed by the end of it). All looking for acco-accommodation. We listed, checked websites, searched, read and emailed all the places we could from the LP, TTP, Rough Guide and googles. In all, 13 in Istanbul, 13 in Selcuk and a handful in Fethiye. We emailed everyone who had an email address, even if they had published their rates online. Some mails bounced. Others replies during the evening- an assortment of basic information, basic letter writing and somehow-likeable limited English. Some were warmer than others, more appealing in tone and description.
Istanbul is a not so reassuring. Fethiye and Selcuk seem sorted, more or less. Or at least have enough choices to eliminate concern. Selcuk, in particular seems to abound in places for the low-budget (read: no-budget) traveller.
